Give a destitute Jew a half tongue sandwich!

I met Al Goldstein when I was a waiter in Soho in the early 90s. He was having lunch with porn director Candida Royalle. I shook his hand and told him he was a hero. I wasn't kidding, either. His "Fuck You" column on MIDNIGHT BLUE cracked me up and he championed cinema sex over cinema violence, like no other advocate. I agreed with his point. Less guns, more leg, and we might could be living in a better world. I drew one comic for his rag, SCREW. Drawing a comic for SCREW was like a NYC actor getting to say his one line on LAW & ORDER. It was requisite. Is he a shmuck? Of course. Does he have some bad karma? Probably. But -- does the guy have NO friends to lean on?!
