Body-slammed by Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour Hoffman was such a talented actor. He literally rammed into me the first time I went to the BORED TO DEATH set during the first season of production (which shared a studio with other productions). I was walking through a short hallway and Hoffman came bursting through a door and body-slammed me. He was emotional and physically shaken. He didn't apologize. I don't think he even knew what had happened. His hair looked like it had a few short braids in it. He pressed his hands against the wall, took a deep breath, spun around and went back through the door and said something about doing another "take." It was then that I realized he was acting. He had just done a scene in a movie he was directing and needed to run through a door to get the full impact of the moment. That guy always gave his all. He will be missed.
