[Maidstone Beach, Easthampton, NY]
Yesterday, my mother drove us up to Easthampton where we spent the day with my father to celebrate my brother, Mike's, birthday. It was a very nice day. Dad assembled an amazing history/picture book of Mike's life that was astonishing. I've been struggling with Mike's death ever since it happened almost a year ago and, because he had it so tough the last couple of years, I blanked a lot of my childhood memories with him. This book allowed for a lot of it to flood back into place and begin to reduce the black hole in my head. A truly beautiful and touching tome. Mike would've been 38.
