The Atlantic Center for the Arts: Residency #147

In October, 2012, I spent three weeks as a Master Artist at The Atlantic Center for the Arts in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where I helped select, mentor, and impart comix-making wisdom to eight amazing, willing, and dedicated cartoonists from America, Ireland, Canada, and Australia.

Please read my short recollection, see some pictures, and listen to a podcast interview I did with a student from Stetson University at TRIP CITY:

Sandy Hook Massacre

I often avoid the horror of the world and try not to get sucked into the sensationalism of the news. The Sandy Hook massacre was too awful for me to ignore. The horror lived up to the hype and more. It made everyone look into the mirror. I love great big science fiction guns in my fantasy books, comix, movies, and games. We just shouldn't allow ourselves to fully realize them so people with mental problems can have access to them. Yes, we need to help our sick family and friends and neighbors but we shouldn't enable them to kill more than humanly possible. Our world has gone too far.
