"Superhero comic books used to rule the newsstands and now superheroes rule the movie theaters because filmmakers finally figured out how to trump and take command of the genre. Of course, this doesn’t mean movies and TV are better than comic books but the moving picture and sound medium has certainly become equal to literature. AMC’s Breaking Bad anyone? ‘Nuff said. And, because superheroes have a lot in common with science-fiction, I thought about the visceral impact of “seeing” science-fiction."

"Intrepid detective, Dirk Davies, deals with time and space, which is a tricky thing to write, draw, and consider conceptually. Some people think we are currently co-existing in the past, present, and future. I like that theory as it suggests we subconsciously know where we're going but we're just taking however long it takes to get there. Some say, “It's not where you're from, it's where you're at.”

If I could turn back time and talk to my 12-year old self, the age I consciously decided to make comix my career (thus, making myself otherwise unemployable), what would I say? I'm going to let stream-of-consciousness typing take over and see where this goes..."
