11:39am: Haspiel's CONAN

Dark Horse editor, Philip Simon, was kind enough to invite me to draw a CONAN pin-up. Only, I was in the midst of juggling three different deadlines [at the time] so I could only devote a couple of hours to a quick sketch w/some color. Philip was happy with it and published it in CONAN THE CIMMERIAN #24 [which came out yesterday and features an amazing CONAN pin-up by Tim Hamilton, too]. I'd like to write/draw a CONAN story sometime.

9:49pm: NY Times profiles Jonathan Ames
EXCERPT:
"It's not exactly Poets’ Corner of Westminster Abbey, but the blond-wood shelves at BookCourt in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn, do confer a certain prestige in this literary-minded neighborhood. So it was at a recent Wednesday event, when a small crowd was leaving a reading from a graphic novel about the Cuban revolution by Inverna Lockpez and Dean Haspiel, and passed a shelf filled with T-shirts printed with the names of famous writers: “Whitman,” “Poe,” “Vonnegut” ... “Ames.”"
