"Drawing a hero"

The writer gets a lot of facts wrong, but press is press and she used a male pseudonym. So, go figure. My professional introduction to the comix world WAS NOT when I started drawing AMERICAN SPLENDOR for Harvey Pekar [in 1999]. It started in 1985 when I assisted Sienkiewicz, Chaykin, and Simonson, at Upstart Studios on NEW MUTANTS, AMERICAN FLAGG!, and THOR. My first published solo work was THE VERDICT, in 1987. Not that any of that matters for this story. Just clearing up the report.

The article in TIMES LEDGER features cartoonists dinoblack, Jim Muniz, Mike Lilly, and I.
