Before I walked into Soho Zat on West Broadway in Manhattan and discovered the mind-blowing comix of Chester Brown's YUMMY FUR and Harvey Pekar's AMERICAN SPLENDOR, my fuzzy memory declares these select titles as having a major impact on my fragile sensibilities:

There were plenty more titles to sate my ever growing hunger as I grew to visit my local newsstand daily [like X-MEN, DAREDEVIL, HULK, AVENGERS, GREEN LANTERN, and BATMAN], but these were the ones that got me going.
